What is Vlogging?

What I learned from the Boston Media Makers MeetingSome people call it Vidblogging, others call it vodcasting. Some people pronounce it just like blogging with a “v” and others pronounce the v and then say logging. Some people hate the term vlogging and want to just call them videos. Whatever you call it, I think it’s fun!

Although it’s been around since 2000 the act of making videos and posting them online greatly increased in 2005. Can you guess what happened in 2005? YouTube was launched. By 2009 it became number 5 on the list of most popular web sites. You can literally see vlogs becoming more and more popular online. Businesses use them to show products. Mothers use them to show tips and tumbles.

You can make them fancy by using a green screen or just make them fast by using a mini camcorder. You can dress nice and edit out all mistakes or you can do it first thing in the morning and upload it as is. There are no set rules for vlogging. The only limit is your imagination.

So, what do you call them?

I found a book on Amazon that I want to purchase and read. Here’s my affiliate link to Web Video: Making It Great, Getting It Noticed if you want to check it out also.
