Interview with Elizabeth Esther
As I recorded video for The Relevant Conference this lady was the only one to say yes right away. She actually said yes before I explained the question! I was amazed! Most attendees I had to coax into doing a video, and give them time to think. Then I found out that Elizabeth Esther is used to doing her own video blogs as well as being on TV. When I heard that I decided to “interview” her. Enjoy! [cause I surely did]
Here’s a list of the tips we talked about:
- Sit up straight
- Don’t wiggle
- Apply lip gloss liberally
- Don’t overthink it
- Listen well when interviewing
- Look at each other when interviewing
- When talking to audience look directly into camera
- Do vlogs to help yourself become comfortable before going on TV
- Try to keep to 2 min. or less [please excuse that this one is longer]
- Really be yourself [only copy Elizabeth Esther]
- It takes time to figure out your online presence; it’s ok to experiment
P.S. I picked that picture of Elizabeth Esther from her site because I think it makes her look like Judy Garland – a young Judy Garland, of course.
P.P.S. Next time we should totally sing Broadway tunes together!

Hi Jendi,
I enjoyed this interview. I have no problem being in front of the camera, as long as it’s my camera, so that I can edit the recording. For Elizabeth to do an interview like this one or to go on live TV would send me into paralysis. Good tips, especially making eye contact. It’s very distracting to watch a video of someone watching themselves on the monitor. You both look great. I’ll check out Elizabeth’s site now. Ray

It is harder for me to just jump into an interview or conference presentation without having everything prepared, but I am getting better at it. Thanks for commenting AND sharing the link on Twitter.

HAHAHAHAH!!! I love that you two coordinate so well. And I’m glad you talked about where to look because I’ve always wondered how to do that on camera.

Looking at the camera instead of looking at myself on the screen is so hard but I’m really working on that.
I definitely agree with the shorter the better.

Great tips. I need to work on sitting up straighter and looking at the camera rather than myself on the screen.
