The 3 Worst Mistakes Vloggers Make

failureThese three things will cost you views.  Once watchers know your videos are awful they will not want to push play the next time they see one.

1. Light – Your audience needs to be able to see what is going on in the video.  The small digital cameras do not require excessive amounts of light, but they do require some light in the right place.  If you can’t use natural light use some lamps.  Make sure the light is beside or in front of you.  If there’s a lot of light behind you your watchers will only see a silhouette.

2. Sound – The majority of people do not know how to lip read.  They need to hear what you – or the person in your video – is saying.  Make sure there is not a lot of noise around you – or wind blowing on your microphone, and speak clearly to the camera.

3. Time – Keep it short!  I’d guess that the majority of your audience has a full RSS reader, plus e-mail messages, Facebook, and Twitter to read.  They don’t want to sit for 10 minutes watching your video unless it is super – SUPER – interesting.

There you have it.  The three worst things you can do to your video is have a mumbling person, in a dark room, talking for 10 minutes.

Hi – I don’t comment on many blogs but had to on yours. It’s fantastic! I really like how you write – very to the point, unlike a lot of other journals. Thanks for having this site. I don’t have time to read it all right now, I found this site when looking for something else on Bing, but I’ve bookmarked your homepage and will visit again soon to see the latest news. Visit my site if you’d like to read more. Keep up the fine work!
