My First Session At SheStreams – Reaching Women Via Video

She Streams ConferenceI was so honored to be among the speakers the very first morning of SheStreams. I was on a panel with Audrey McClelland and Molly Gold; two women that I admire very much. Here’s the description of our session:

Reaching Women via Video

This interactive panel moderated by Maria Bailey is composed of successful women in social media. Each woman will talk about their personal experience in targeting moms and other women. Brands and businesses will have the opportunity to speak with these women about their success stories, failures, and where they see opportunities in the current market.

One aspect that made it even more wonderful for me was that I agreed with everything they said about video. At one point they graciously brought up opposing views about incorporating their children into their business, and I still agreed with both of them. It’s a personal decision for each online business person and they kindly pointed out both sides.

The session went very well and has gotten great feedback. It was live streamed [low-quality] so it might be posted online. You could check the SheStreams Facebook page for more info.

I put the following video together for the presentation because they asked me for an example and I couldn’t pick just one type. I do lots of styles of video! I was amazed out how many real life comments I got about it at the conference. Comments online or in real life make me happy! So please let me know what you think.

Taking Video To The Next Level

fitness weight loss centerDoug of FitnessWeightLossCenter is planning to use video to grow his online presence. All he has to do now is avoid procrastination and carve out some time to record his own videos. :)

He’s already on a great blogging track with a very focused site that incorporates lots of health and fitness information in easy to find categories. The site has an Amazon store as well as affiliate links organically incorporated into the content.

He’s also on a great video track with video content in many of the posts. They really do add to any site! He includes relevant videos from others with additional information at the bottom of his posts. It gives the readers different ways to consume the content.

Next he plans to take it to the next level by making his own videos. These will be on YouTube, his blog, and other video hosts. It will add another dimension to the website, help establish his credibility & expertise, and expand his online reach.

What level are you at with online video? Have you included relevant videos from others on your site? Have you made some of your own? Why not?

Special thanks to Fitness Weight Loss Center for sponsoring my trip to the Type A Conference. All opinions here are my own. If you stop by his site would you do me a favor and leave a nice comment? Thanks so much!

Prezi Presentation About Vlogging

FitBloggin session called Vlogging 101

prezi logoI had a great time at FitBloggin. It really is so-o much nicer to attend a conference that is closer to home! I was really nervous about speaking all by myself. The other times I spoke I was on a panel. This time I had a whole hour all to myself!

I used Prezi.com to make my presentation and it was fun! You can see the one I made here

It was easy to figure out because I watched their short tutorial. I have a brand-spankin’ new MacBook and it wouldn’t communicate with the projector so I was really glad that a copy of my presentation is online and easy to pull up through any computer. Prezi added some new features that I’m eager to try for my next presentation – and I’m only using the free option! When I finished going through my outline I was able to feature the whole picture and then jump to the appropriate section when someone had a question.

The session was pretty full, the audience was awesome, and they said my presentation was great. Mission accomplished.

FitBloggin Conference Vloggin

Here’s a bit of my first day at the FitBloggin Conference in Baltimore, Maryland, May 20-21, 2011. Even though it’s not my normal niche I really enjoyed meeting many wonderful people and hearing their inspirational stories. My session went well too!

Vlogging 101 | My Session At FitBloggin

video blogging creekBreak Into Video Blogging

That’s the description of my FitBloggin conference session Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 10:45 am. I’m running the range of all my normal conference emotions plus some.

I have my presentation ready. It’s a Prezi and I’m excited to see how it works. I know that I have more than enough information to fill up an hour’s worth of time. I ran through it during my last live show – just describing what I was going to talk about – and took up 30 minutes. That’s without actually talking through each slide; plus I want to leave time for lots of questions. My plan is to go through my outline pretty quickly and then spend the rest of the time with Q&A. I would really like the session to go in the direction the audience wants. I have no idea what level they will be at and I want the session to be interesting to them. [Read more...]

Back From BlogWorld

I’m physically exhausted, and mentally invorigorated. Plus…drumroll please…I got to eat dinner with Cali Lewis! How awesome is that! It almost feels surreal. I was sitting across the table one time she started talking about a tech gadget. It took a bit for my mind to process that I was watching her in real life and not on the computer screen. That dinner is my second favorite part of the whole four days in Las Vegas.

I’ll tell you more about the conference next week. On this blog I’ll talk about video related things; on Jendi’s Journal I’ll write about personal aspects of the trip; and on Profitable Mommy Blogging I’ll talk about things I learned in and around the sessions. If you are interested in any of those things please use the free subscribe option at the appropriate blog – either by RSS reader or email.
