Melitsa from play-activities.com asked “Can you talk about using music in vlogs?” I’m seeing more vlogs that use a theme tune or little tune between the opening credits and the start of the vlog. What are your thoughts about doing that? And how do you do it? Thanks!
It is not legal to use any copyrighted music without permission. Putting a credit at the end of your video does not make it legal. Playing the song yourself does not make it legal if the written music is copyrighted. You have to have permission, use your own creation, or use royalty free music. Here are some sites where you can download royalty free music for free.
- Incompetech – the best I’ve found!
- Partners in Rhyme
- Internet Tip from Seabreeze Computers – an awesome list of more sites

Hi Jendi -
I have often wanted to get into vlogging. My husband has done some with his gardening and furniture making stuff! One of the things that REALLY bugs me about watching others vlogs is when they don’t hold the camera still and when they flip the camera around real fast. It gives me a headache!! What is your advice on this and what kind of camera is best for making at home vlogs?
Thanks! Heidi Polcaster from Chicago
