I decided that I needed some better audio for my recordings since I’m finally doing a bit more video and recording in different places. Plus, I have an awesome YouTube meetup coming up with plans to record collabs in a noisy conference room and I’ll need a microphone.
Since I’ve heard so much good about the Rode brand I was comfortable getting one of their more cost effective shotgun microphones. The Rode Videomic Shotgun Microphone with Rycote Lyre Mount (Model: VIDEOMICR) I’m very happy with the times I’ve used it so far and can’t wait to use it more!
Since my Canon Vixia doesn’t have a mount on the top of it I also needed a bracket to hold the microphone above the camera. The Bower Flash Bracket for Flash and Video looked like it would work fine and not be too expensive – and it’s doing good so far. I haven’t mounted my LED light to the second mount yet, but I’m sure I’ll test it out in the near future.
In the following video you can see the packages and products as I unbox them, and I included some pictures of the light and camera mounted on my tripod.
