Ideas To Make A Video Blog In A Park

July is National Recreation & Parks month. You can multi-task by making a video blog while your child is playing at the park.

Here’s some ideas if you are a…

  1. frugal blogger – talk about the free fun.
  2. mommy blogger – talk about taking your children.
  3. travel blogger – talk about your favorite parks.
  4. daily life / memoir blogger – talk about a park memory you have.
  5. local blogger – talk about the best parks in the area.
  6. fitness blogger – talk about the exercise you can get by walking, hiking, etc at a park.
  7. food blogger – talk about good snacks to take to the park.
  8. freelance writer – talk about working in a park for a change.
  9. online business person – talk about going to the park for a break to recharge.
  10. and many more!
You could talk about any of those in a vlog. By making the video at a park you will support your expertise and make it more fun to watch. If you feel too conspicuous/embarrassed to set up a tripod find a tree or pole that you can rest your hand against to keep your camera still.
Another way to improve your vlog is to get some B roll  - which is footage that supports your topic without being right on you or the main topic. Let’s go through the list again:
  1. frugal – show that you don’t need your wallet by leaving it somewhere.
  2. mommy – the kids of course!
  3. travel – add still pics of other parks you mention.
  4. daily life – if you talk about a specific piece of playground equipment shoot it.
  5.  local – show the area / entrance signs.
  6. fitness – show the trail.
  7. food – show the snacks.
  8. writer – show the equipment you use/area you work.
  9. business person – show yourself relaxing or playing then back to work.

  1. I like it. I’m slowly convincing myself to try some vlogging. Not an easy process, and I know I’m my own worst critic in many ways. Outside sounds like fun. Challenging, with a 2 year old who still needs a lot of watching at the park, but perhaps interesting.

Oh awesome. I love the idea of having a setting. So many vlogs I see are sitting in a room with a simple wall behind them. SO much more fun this way. Now my mind is spinning with what I could do… I need to go practice. Thanks!

  3. Hi- Do you think it would be appropriate to do a vlog in a park for me? I’m a beauty blogger. I was thinking that since I promote nature based products that would be a great thing. I certainly haven’t seen anyone else do it. It’s a bit cold now but I was thinking maybe when it’s warm.

Yes! Sounds like you can easily make it relevant since you use nature based products. I say go for it!
