Are you wondering what a mailing list is? Are you thinking, “I’m already subscribed?”  There is RSS subscription that you can get via email or through a feed reader like Bloglines or Google Reader.  RSS subscription lets you know whenever a new blog post is published.  It will either send the post to your e-mail or your feed reader.

Feed readers keep track of your favorite blogs in one place online.  When you open your chosen feed reader you will see a list of the blogs you have added and how many new posts they have published since last time you read the blog.

Mailing list subscriptions are different.  They are usually emails written by the author specifically for the mailing list.  If it’s a good mailing list the subscribers will get special information before it’s on the website.  If there is someone that I really like online I will subscribe via RSS and to their mailing list.
