Some wrap-it-up thoughts that aren’t in the other tips, but I think are kind of important.

You’ve shot a video that’s usable. You’ve edited it, watched it all the way through, and saved it again. Now you’re ready to upload it.

Tip 1: Make An Outline

Tip 2: What’s In Your Background?

Talking about backgrounds for your vlogs. They can build up your authority or totally distract from your content.

[from my original series in 2008]

Perry Lawrence has a video with some great tips about Adding Authority To Your Videos. I’ve learned a lot from him, and I enjoyed reading his 25 Top Video Tips.

A more advanced background technique is green screen.

I enjoy using green screen. Here’s a picture of my green screen set-up in a corner of the basement. The picture is actually a screen capture from Podcast 23 “My Green Screen Setup.”

Here’s a video from VideoMaker illustrating some great points you can use even if you don’t have fancy lights. Don’t worry about buying fancy lights right away. Use what you already have and arrange them in the triangle that is illustrated in the following video.

Tip 4: Make Yourself Presentable

There are people who always film just as they are. I’m happy for them, but I prefer to make myself look better before filming.

from my very first vlogging series in 2008.

Melissa Ingold sent out a free pdf on Tips for Creating Integrity Driven Video. You don’t have to give your email or anything. It’s free to read, download, or share. If you follow my tips and live show you will have heard the tips, but sometimes a different phrasing makes it easier to understand or remember. Enjoy and thank you for being on my mailing list!
