This video has been around for a little while and I think it’s really neat so I wanted to make sure you’ve seen it. A math teacher at Biola University experimented with mixing video and live action. First he did a video for Halloween and then a different one for April Fools.
Here’s 16 Tips For Successful Online Video Marketing from the Social Media Examiner. Great points – I agree!
A special thanks to Mommy Reporter for posting about my webinar!
Lastly, here’s a feel good human interest story about a Little Soldier Girl Welcoming Daddy Home. While you’re watching check out angles, cuts, close-ups etc. and see what you like/don’t like.
Here is a video I made for the Johnson & Johnson channel On Being A Mother.
You can see lots of other videos in their Mother’s Day playlist.
Yoly talks from the heart to her mother in this video. Feliz día de las madres!
This video is not about mother’s day, but it is a group of mothers in the Dominican Republic. Five of these I met in real life!
I love this video made by Amy on The Popular Blogger! You might have already seen it since it’s been featured on BlogHer and ShePosts. Love it!
I have a guest post on Dinkerandgiggles.com titled Moms, You Can Be A Great Lifecast Blogger!
One of the questions on my guest post is a question that I often get asked, “Should I put my kids in my vlog?” There is an article on ReelSEO.com that asks Are Parents of YouTube Stars Exploiting Their Kids? He makes some very good points.
There’s a great written post on Social Times about 5 Ways The BBC Gets People Watching Their Videos. I definitely agree with their points. I’m also noticing more and more people saying that fancy intros, effects, transitions are not necessary for online videos because people are interested in content.
Blunty mentions that same thing in his Vlogging Tips on editing, effects, and transitions. He mentions that it is better to use that amount of time for content instead of a fancy intro. He has a whole series of vlogging tips. While I agree with most of what he says, [love the Macgyver tripod] he puzzles me by telling us to keep the videos short while his run 7 minutes long! Take your own advice Blunty anf make shorter videos!
The most effective automotive ad of the year was given to Kia by Nielson. I found it interesting that YouTube and social media played a big part in making it an effective ad. Consumers were able to connect. The fast connection is one of the things I most love about video.
Thanks to Stephanie for mentioning me on Media Post Blogs in her article Engage: Moms. Those of you who follow me don’t get confused about the bi-monthly show mention. That’s how I did it when I first started, but now I’m live every Friday at 2pm EST on MomTV.
Here’s seven tips for beginning video. The part that resonated with me was “Nobody likes the way their voice sounds when they hear it on video, but you’ll get over it.”
Next is a great article and video from Kelly McCausey. They shot this video with an iphone and edited it into a great presentation. Start vlogging with whatever you have!
I don’t envy Quatro Momma having to potty train 4 boys at one time. In fact, when I think about it I pray for her. I do envy her closeness to all that cuteness! She turned something as simple as buying new underwear into a great lifecast.
Here’s a fun video of the daughters of one of my fellow Mom Mastermind members! They are teenagers with their own business that got featured on ESPN. It was a lot of work for this short video if you look at the different locations, angles, clothes, etc.
Angela Wills is also a Mom Mastermind member [guess you can tell where I hung out this week]. She is getting a good amount of traffic from this video of her singing and playing guitar.
5 Minutes for Mom is giving away an HD Video Camera for a Pre-Ultimate Blogging Party. It’s simple to enter so check it out – quick because it ends 3/28/10! I plan to put a video together for the Ultimate Blogging Party and I’d love to see you in a video as well! So if you don’t make it to enter for the camera check out the party details.
I used Windows Movie Maker all the time for about a year and I still use it when I want to make a video quickly. Marie has some great tutorials on using WMM. She even used Audacity to merge voice and music for an elaborate slideshow.
“Forrester Research found that videos were 53 times more likely than traditional web pages to receive an organic first-page ranking.” This article by TechCrunch supports what I’ve been saying – you need video for your website.

Dave Kaminski compares four popular pocket cameras. He ran the cameras at the same time in the same place by mounting them all on one board. Then he put the footage together for the podcast. It’s a must watch!
There are some good points in this post titled Video, Blogging, and Making Sense Of It All by Rob Sutton. I do not provide all the text for my videos because I’m targeting vloggers and expect them to like watching videos. Make sense? Do you type out the same thing you say in your video?
Never thought I’d watch a the YouTube video “How to Upload” the whole way through, but it was light and fun. Tell me what you think of it.
Here’s a video by Michael Locke comparing video blogging with basketball – in a good way. Included are some good tips about personal branding.
You Tube is stepping things up – again. Do you have the YouTube safety mode turned on? Now they are starting to add captions to English speaking videos. It’s not real accurate yet, but it’s a start!
Lastly, a great article by Perry Lawrence, aka askMrVideo, about Using Video as a Marketing Tool. You might argue that you aren’t marketing anything. Hmm… aren’t you marketing your blog when you try to get more readers?
I really appreciate the new safety mode available for YouTube. I learned about it from an article on ReelSEO. Whenever my children hear noise from the computer they run to see what it is and it’s just comforting to know that YouTube will try to block some of the objectionable things.
At Blissdom I recorded Kris and Kim asking a question for Say it Face to Face. I love their welcome video on The DIY Dish!
